B2. Marine EngineeringDefinition
Medium-speed dual-fuel engine families.
Wartsila 32 and 34DF are two medium-speed four-stroke families. The Wartsila 32 is a diesel engine with a 320 mm bore and 400 mm stroke, up to about 580 kW per cylinder at 720 to 750 rpm, serving propulsion and genset duty on HFO or MGO. The Wartsila 34DF is a dual-fuel engine with a 340 mm bore and 400 mm stroke, around 500 kW per cylinder, burning LNG with a pilot fuel in Otto-cycle gas mode or liquid fuel in diesel mode. The 34DF is the global standard auxiliary engine on LNG carriers, Tier II in diesel mode and Tier III in gas mode.
