ZESTAs

ZESTAs (Zero Emission Ship Technology Association) is a non-profit international trade association representing absolute-zero-emission energy sources and propulsion technologies for shipping, including hydrogen, battery-electric, and wind. It defines absolute zero as no upstream greenhouse gases, with the added benefit of no ocean pollution and reduced underwater radiated noise. ZESTAs runs its ShipZERO program of projects and workshops and holds provisional consultative status at the IMO plus UNFCCC accreditation, giving it standing in regulatory debate. In August 2025 it partnered with the SASHA Coalition; together the two represent roughly 70 companies. Its advocacy targets true zero rather than transitional fuels such as LNG.
