Bentley MAXSURF
B1. Naval ArchitectureDefinition
Commercial hull design and hydrostatics suite.
Bentley MAXSURF is a commercial naval-architecture software suite for hull surface modeling, hydrostatics, intact and damage stability, resistance prediction, and structural analysis. Its NURBS-surface hull modeler feeds MAXSURF Stability, Resistance, and Motions modules. The Resistance module runs regression methods including Holtrop-Mennen, Savitsky for planing hulls, and the Delft systematic yacht series rather than a viscous-flow solver, so it gives an early-stage power estimate, not a tank-quality answer. It is widely used in concept and preliminary design where a lines plan and a speed-power curve are needed before CFD or model testing.
