OrcaFlex is a commercial time-domain dynamic-analysis code from Orcina for offshore marine systems, the standard tool for risers, moorings, towed arrays, and installation analysis. It models lines as lumped-mass finite elements with hydrodynamic loading from the extended Morison equation, couples them to rigid-body vessels driven by RAOs or by external hydrodynamic data, and runs irregular-wave, current, and dynamic-positioning cases. Engineers use it to size mooring spreads, check riser fatigue and clashing, and simulate lifts and tow-outs. It is a structural and station-keeping dynamics solver, not a resistance-prediction or viscous-flow code, so it takes hydrodynamic coefficients as input rather than computing the hull flow field.
