Day Sailer
F4. Recreational Boating, Yachting and SportDefinition
Small open keelboat or dinghy for daytime sailing.
A day sailer is a small open or partly decked sailing boat, typically 5 to 8 m, designed for daytime recreational and club racing rather than overnight cruising, with no fixed berthing accommodation. The capitalized Day Sailer is a specific class: a 5.18 m (16 ft 9 in) two-person centerboard dinghy designed by Uffa Fox and George O’Day in 1958 and built by O’Day in the United States, with a small cuddy cabin forward. Neither the generic type nor the class is Olympic.
