Dragon Class
F4. Recreational Boating, Yachting and SportDefinition
International keelboat class designed by Johan Anker in 1929.
An International one-design keelboat designed by Norwegian Johan Anker in 1929. The Dragon is an 8.9 m (29 ft) long-keeled sloop sailed by a crew of three, with an 11.9 m mast and a single spinnaker. It was an Olympic class from the 1948 London Games through Munich 1972, then replaced; today it races as a strict one-design under the International Dragon Association. Its long overhangs and narrow hull date the original cruising-pedigree design, but the class stays active in fleets across Europe.
