DSCC (Deep Sea Conservation Coalition)

The Deep Sea Conservation Coalition (DSCC) is an alliance of conservation NGOs, formed in 2004, that campaigns to protect deep-sea ecosystems from bottom fishing and, later, deep-seabed mining. It pressed the UN General Assembly resolutions 61/105 (2006) and 64/72 (2009), which require RFMOs and flag states to assess deep-sea bottom fisheries, protect vulnerable marine ecosystems such as cold-water corals and seamounts, and apply move-on rules. The DSCC works across NEAFC, SPRFMO, SIOFA, and other deep-sea RFMOs to translate those resolutions into binding bottom-fishing measures.
