Engine Health Monitoring (EHM) is continuous condition monitoring of a main or auxiliary engine using cylinder-pressure (PMI/PMS), exhaust-gas temperature, bearing temperature, vibration, lube-oil, and turbocharger data to detect degradation before failure. Analytics compare measured indicated power, peak pressure, and combustion balance against baselines to flag injector, ring, or bearing problems and to support condition-based maintenance accepted by class instead of fixed-hour overhauls. EHM feeds the wider asset-performance picture and underpins fuel-efficiency work, since cylinder imbalance and fouling raise specific fuel oil consumption and CO2 per tonne-mile.
