European Community Shipowners' Associations (ECSA)

F3. Seafaring Life, Education, Professions and Institutions

Definition

Industry body in Brussels.

ECSA, the European Community Shipowners’ Associations, is the Brussels-based trade body representing the national shipowner associations of the EU and Norway. Its members are the associations themselves (for example the Greek, German, Danish, and Norwegian shipowner bodies), making ECSA the collective voice of European shipping before the European Commission, Parliament, and Council. It lobbies on tonnage-tax state-aid guidelines, the EU Emissions Trading System extension to shipping, FuelEU Maritime, and crewing and safety regulation. ECSA works alongside BIMCO and the International Chamber of Shipping at the global level.
