Fast Combat Support Ship (T-AOE)
E2. Naval, defence and maritime law enforcementDefinition
Multi-product replenishment ship.
A multi-product fleet-replenishment ship in the AOE hull series that carries fuel, ammunition, and dry stores in one hull, fast enough to keep station with a carrier strike group. The Supply class (AOE-6, commissioned 1994) makes about 25 knots, faster than single-product oilers. The ‘T-’ prefix marks ships transferred to Military Sealift Command and crewed largely by civil-service mariners. The AOE combines the AOR oiler and AE ammunition-ship roles, delivering all three commodities in a single underway-replenishment evolution.
