FBL standards
C3. Logistics, freight forwarding and multimodal tradeDefinition
ICC Rules for Multimodal Transport applied by FBL.
FBL standards are the rules a FIATA Bill of Lading is issued subject to: the UNCTAD/ICC Rules for Multimodal Transport Documents, published as ICC Publication 481 and in force from 1 January 1992. They set the multimodal transport operator’s liability on a network basis, with the operator answerable for loss or damage from receipt to delivery and the limitation level keyed to the mode where damage occurred, or to a default of 666.67 SDR per package or 2 SDR per kilogram where the stage is unknown. The ICC logo on the FBL form certifies conformity, which is why UCP 600 banks accept the FBL as a multimodal document.
