FCA

C3. Logistics, freight forwarding and multimodal trade

Definition

Free Carrier, Incoterm 2020.

FCA (Free Carrier) is the Incoterms 2020 rule where the seller delivers, cleared for export, either at its own premises (seller loads) or at another named place (seller does not unload). Risk passes once the goods are handed to the carrier nominated by the buyer. Incoterms 2020 added an option for the parties to agree that the buyer instructs its carrier to issue an on-board bill of lading back to the seller, easing letter-of-credit compliance under FCA.
