Fuel oil consumption data collection
C2. Ship operations, crewing and technical managementDefinition
IMO DCS reporting under MARPOL Annex VI.
The IMO Data Collection System (DCS) under MARPOL Annex VI Regulation 22A, in force from 2019, which requires ships of 5,000 GT and above to record and report annual fuel oil consumption by fuel type, distance traveled, and hours under way to their flag state, which forwards aggregated data to the IMO. The DCS data feeds the operational carbon-intensity (CII) regime and underpins the ship’s SEEMP Part II. It is the regulatory baseline for measuring a ship’s emissions performance.
