US area command (e.g., INDOPACOM, CENTCOM).
A US unified combatant command responsible for all military operations in a defined region of the world, under 10 U.S.C. section 164. The six geographic commands are INDOPACOM, EUCOM, CENTCOM, AFRICOM, SOUTHCOM, and NORTHCOM, and SPACECOM covers the space domain. Each is led by a four-star combatant commander holding COCOM authority over assigned forces, who reports to the President through the Secretary of Defense. The geographic commander runs operations through service component commanders, including a maritime component commander.
