Maritime Component Commander (MCC)

The naval service component commander within a joint force, responsible to the joint force commander for employing assigned maritime forces and for sea control, power projection, and protection of sea lines of communication. In US practice the role is filled as the Joint Force Maritime Component Commander (JFMCC), often the numbered fleet commander. The MCC organizes ships into task forces and task groups, sets the maritime operations area, and coordinates with the air, land, and special-operations component commanders under the combatant commander.
