Joint Maritime Operations (JMO)

Maritime operations planned and conducted by forces of two or more US military services under a single joint force commander, integrating naval, air, ground, and special-operations capability toward a common objective. The maritime component commander directs the sea-control, power-projection, and sea-line-of-communication tasks within the joint campaign. Joint doctrine, principally Joint Publication 3-32 (Joint Maritime Operations), governs command relationships, the joint operations area, and the supported and supporting roles between components in the maritime environment.
