GISIS Casualty Module

The GISIS casualty module is the Marine Casualties and Incidents database within the IMO Global Integrated Shipping Information System, holding the marine safety investigation reports and casualty analyses submitted under the Casualty Investigation Code. Flag States report casualty data and final investigation reports electronically to the IMO through this module. The public portion gives access to investigation reports and approved casualty analyses considered by the III Sub-Committee, supporting industry-wide lessons learned. Reporting fulfils the flag State’s obligation under SOLAS XI-1/6 and the Casualty Investigation Code to share results so that similar casualties can be prevented.
