The Maritime Museum of Tasmania in Hobart, established in 1974 and housed in the Carnegie Building near the historic waterfront. Its collection covers Tasmania’s convict-transportation era, the Southern Ocean whaling and sealing trades that drove early Hobart Town, Antarctic exploration departures, and Derwent River shipping, through ship models, paintings, instruments, and photographs.
