IEC 61162-450/460

IEC 61162-450 specifies a lightweight Ethernet network for shipboard navigation data using UDP multicast to distribute NMEA-format messages among bridge systems; IEC 61162-460 is the security and safety extension, adding a network gateway, controlled access, redundancy, and intrusion protection for systems requiring higher integrity. Together they replace point-to-point serial wiring with a shared Ethernet backbone for radar, ECDIS, AIS, and sensors. The current editions are IEC 61162-450:2018 and IEC 61162-460:2018.
