IMCA M 117

IMCA M 117 is the International Marine Contractors Association’s training and experience scheme for personnel involved in the operation of dynamic positioning systems, the framework behind the DP operator (DPO) career path. It sets the syllabus and logged-watch progression from induction and simulator courses through sea time to the certificate issued by the Nautical Institute. It complements IMCA M 103 (DP vessel design and operation) and IMCA M 182. Competent, certificated DPOs are a stated requirement in the IMO DP guidelines MSC.1/Circ.1580 for manning DP-class vessels.
