IMCA M 103

E4. Cruise, offshore energy and auxiliary/specialised fleets

Definition

Guidelines for DP vessel design and operation.

IMCA M 103 is the International Marine Contractors Association’s guideline on the design and operation of dynamic positioning vessels, the industry reference that interprets the IMO DP equipment classes (MSC.1/Circ.1580) for owners, builders, and operators. It covers DP system architecture, redundancy concepts, the failure-modes basis for DP1/DP2/DP3, capability plots, and operational documentation. Used alongside IMCA M 117 (DP operator training) and IMCA M 178/M 190 (DP operations and annual trials), it is the working specification much of the offshore DP fleet is designed and audited against.
