A UK national museum of conflict, founded 1917, with maritime collections across its branches. IWM London documents naval warfare of both world wars; IWM Duxford in Cambridgeshire focuses on aviation. The naval holdings extend to HMS Belfast, a Town-class light cruiser launched 1938, moored on the Thames in the Pool of London since 1971 as an IWM branch. Collections cover the Battle of the Atlantic, convoy operations, and submarine warfare.
