Museo Storico Navale at the Arsenale.
The Museo Storico Navale di Venezia, near the Venetian Arsenale, holding the naval history of the Venetian Republic and the Italian Navy. The collection includes a model of the Bucintoro, the state galley of the Doge, scale models of galleys and galleasses, and a ceremonial gilded barge. The adjacent Arsenale, founded around 1104, was the Republic’s shipyard and could once build a galley in a day at the height of its serial production.
