ISO 6707
C4. Ports, terminals and coastal/marine civil engineeringDefinition
ISO standard for buildings and civil engineering vocabulary.
ISO 6707 is the international standard that fixes the vocabulary of buildings and civil engineering works. Part 1 (ISO 6707-1) defines the general terms, prepared by ISO/TC 59 SC 2, and provides the base definitions that more specific construction and maritime-works standards build on for consistent use in specifications, regulations, and contracts. The 2020 sixth edition cancelled and replaced the 2017 edition plus older modular and tolerance vocabularies. Port and coastal engineers rely on it so terms such as structure, foundation, and serviceability carry one agreed meaning across BS 6349, the Eurocodes, and tender documents.
