ROM 0.5-05

ROM 0.5-05 is the Spanish Recommendations for Maritime Works that govern geotechnical design of port and maritime structures, published by Puertos del Estado. It sets out programs and techniques for site and geotechnical investigation, criteria for selecting geotechnical parameter values, and verification against failure modes for foundations of quay walls, breakwaters, and dolphins. It adopts the general limit-state and safety procedure of ROM 0.0, applying partial factors and ultimate and serviceability checks. ROM 0.5-05 is the geotechnical reference within the ROM series, used the way BS 6349-1-3 is used in UK practice, and is mandatory for Spanish port works.
