Galata Museo del Mare, the largest Mediterranean maritime museum.
The Galata Museo del Mare in Genoa, opened 2004 in the city’s oldest dock building, the largest maritime museum in the Mediterranean. It covers Genoese seafaring, Columbus and Atlantic exploration, the age of galleys and sail, and Italian emigration through the MEM (Memory and Migration) section. Moored outside is the submarine Nazario Sauro. A full-scale reconstruction of a seventeenth-century Genoese galley is the centerpiece.
