Junior Class Olympics
F4. Recreational Boating, Yachting and SportDefinition
Generic term for youth one-design championships.
Junior class championships in sailing are youth one-design title events run by class associations and national authorities, awarding national, continental or world junior titles in classes such as the Optimist, ILCA 4 and 420. The phrase is generic rather than a single sanctioned title; the formal global youth event is the World Sailing Youth Sailing World Championship, first held in 1971. Age limits vary by class, commonly under 16 or under 19.
