Definition

National/regional/cooperative center receiving LRIT messages.

A center that receives, stores, and relays Long-Range Identification and Tracking position reports from ships and routes them to entitled governments through the LRIT International Data Exchange. Under SOLAS Regulation V/19-1, ships report their identity and position at least every six hours; a flag may use a National, Regional, Cooperative, or the International LRIT Data Centre. Each Contracting Government decides which data center holds its ships’ data and which other governments may receive it.
