MAN B&W G70ME-C9.5
B2. Marine EngineeringDefinition
Long-stroke 70 cm bore Tier-II two-stroke engine.
The MAN B&W G70ME-C9.5 is a two-stroke, low-speed, crosshead propulsion engine with a 700 mm bore from MAN Energy Solutions. The G marks the super-long-stroke (green) design, which uses a higher stroke-to-bore ratio and lower shaft speed than the older S engines so a larger, more efficient propeller can be fitted, cutting specific fuel consumption. ME is electronic control of injection and exhaust valve, and 9.5 is the mark version. It is a Tier II engine under MARPOL Annex VI Reg 13 and serves as the base for GI gas and LGIM methanol dual-fuel variants. Typical applications are larger bulk carriers, tankers, and container ships.
