Merlin Rocket
F4. Recreational Boating, Yachting and SportDefinition
Development-class British dinghy.
The Merlin Rocket is a British two-person development-class dinghy of 4.27 m (14 ft) created by the 1951 merger of Jack Holt’s Merlin and the Rocket; rules fix length, beam minimum, and sail area while leaving hull shape and foils open, so designs evolve. Modern boats are light, narrow-sterned hiking dinghies with a spinnaker and no trapeze, sailed mainly in the UK. The class is known for the Merlin Rocket Week and is administered by its own association. It is not Olympic.
