Marine gas oil, distillate fuel per ISO 8217 DMA.

Marine gas oil is a distillate fuel, the ISO 8217 DMA grade, free of residual components and so naturally low in sulphur and cat-fines. It meets the 0.10 percent ECA sulphur limit without treatment and is the common fuel for ships entering ECAs, for auxiliary engines, and for emergency and pilot-fuel duty. It is more expensive than residual fuel and VLSFO, so ships minimize its use to ECA legs and ignition duty. Distillate’s lower black-carbon emission also makes it the recommended fuel near the Arctic.
