The National Maritime Museum at Greenwich, London, founded by Act of Parliament in 1934 and opened in 1937, is the largest maritime museum in the world. Its collections cover navigation, exploration, naval warfare, and art, including the coat Nelson wore when killed at Trafalgar and major holdings of marine painting and cartography. It sits within the Maritime Greenwich World Heritage Site alongside the Royal Observatory, the Queen’s House, and the clipper Cutty Sark, and is part of Royal Museums Greenwich.
