A US membership organization founded in 1963 that promotes American maritime history and ship preservation, headquartered at Peekskill, New York. It publishes the quarterly Sea History magazine and ran early campaigns to save historic vessels, including the bark Kaiulani and support for the South Street Seaport. Its programs include maritime-heritage awards and educational outreach to museums and sail-training organizations.
