Nautical Archaeology Program at Texas AandM

A graduate program at Texas A&M University, founded in 1976, the first academic department dedicated to the archaeology of ships and seafaring. It is closely tied to the Institute of Nautical Archaeology (INA), founded by George Bass in 1972, whose excavations include Uluburun, Serce Limani, and the Kyrenia ship. The program trains students in hull recording, ship reconstruction, and conservation, and its faculty and graduates have led excavations worldwide. It anchors the discipline alongside programs at Southampton and other universities.
