Definition

Officer-grade UK and Dutch seafarer trade union.

Trade union and professional association for maritime professionals, principally ship officers, formed on 15 May 2009 by the merger of Nautilus UK (formerly NUMAST) and Nautilus NL. It operates from offices in London, Rotterdam, and Switzerland, and represents masters, deck and engineer officers, and shore-based members on pay, conditions, training, and criminalization of seafarers. It is affiliated to the TUC and the International Transport Workers’ Federation (ITF) and held about 19,000 members in 2024.
