NOR tender log

C2. Ship operations, crewing and technical management

Definition

Record of NOR served at ports.

The NOR tender log records each Notice of Readiness served at a port, with the exact date and time of tender and the means of service. NOR is the master’s formal statement to charterers or shippers that the ship has arrived and is ready in all respects to load or discharge. Once a valid NOR is tendered and accepted, laytime begins to count after any notice time or turn-time set in the charter party. The log is primary evidence in laytime and demurrage disputes, since a defective or premature NOR can delay the start of laytime by hours or days.
