Ocean Technology Foundation Programs

F3. Seafaring Life, Education, Professions and Institutions

Definition

STEM-to-sea pipeline initiatives.

Marine-science and STEM-to-sea education initiatives run by the Ocean Technology Foundation, a US nonprofit incorporated in Connecticut around 2001 to support ocean exploration, research, and education. Its programs introduced students and the public to ocean technology, mapping, and stewardship through expeditions and outreach. These are informal STEM pipeline efforts toward marine careers, not STCW certificate-of-competency training delivered by a maritime academy.
