Offshore Wind Operation and Maintenance

Offshore wind operation and maintenance (O&M) covers the inspection, scheduled servicing, and fault repair of turbines, foundations, and inter-array cables across a farm’s 20 to 30 year life. Near-shore farms use day-return crew transfer vessels (CTVs) from an O&M port; far-offshore farms run service operation vessels (SOVs) or commissioning SOVs that stay on field for weeks, transferring technicians by motion-compensated walk-to-work gangway and carrying spares, a workshop, and sometimes a daughter craft. Availability, the share of time a turbine can generate, is the headline metric the O&M strategy targets.
