ORB Part II
C2. Ship operations, crewing and technical managementDefinition
Cargo and ballast operations oil record book.
ORB Part II, the Oil Record Book Part II, is the cargo and ballast oil log kept by oil tankers of 150 GT and above in addition to Part I, required by MARPOL Annex I Regulation 36. The responsible officer records loading and unloading of oil cargo, internal transfers, crude oil washing operations, ballasting and cleaning of cargo tanks, discharge of dirty ballast and slop-tank water through the oil discharge monitoring equipment (ODME), and disposal of residues. Entries are signed, dated, and kept three years. Port state control reconciles it against the ODME record, the cargo log, and slop-tank quantities; a discrepancy is a detention and pollution-investigation trigger.
