Packing certificate

C3. Logistics, freight forwarding and multimodal trade

Definition

CTU Code packing certificate.

A container or vehicle packing certificate is the signed declaration that a cargo transport unit has been packed and secured in line with the IMO/ILO/UNECE CTU Code and, for dangerous goods, the IMDG Code. For dangerous-goods containers SOLAS Chapter VI Regulation 5 and IMDG Code 5.4.2 require this Container/Vehicle Packing Certificate, signed by the person responsible for packing, confirming the unit was clean and fit, the cargo was correctly stowed and braced, and placards and marks were applied. It accompanies the dangerous goods declaration. It records who packed the box and certifies the packing, distinct from a packing list, which only itemizes contents.
