Packing list
C3. Logistics, freight forwarding and multimodal tradeDefinition
Detailed list of contents in each package.
A packing list is the document itemizing the contents of each package, carton, pallet, or container in a shipment, giving the marks and numbers, the count and type of packages, and the net and gross weight and dimensions of each. It supports the commercial invoice but states no prices. Customs uses it to verify quantities and weights against the invoice and the transport document during examination, and the consignee uses it to check receipt against what was ordered. Under UCP 600 a packing list is examined only for consistency with the other documents, not for full data content unless the credit specifies its required contents.
