The shipping-company officer responsible for Quality, Health, Safety, and Environment management, integrating the ISM Code (SOLAS Chapter IX) safety management system, ISO 9001 quality management, ISO 14001 environmental management, and occupational health and safety controls. The QHSE manager runs internal ISM audits, manages non-conformity and incident reporting, prepares for Port State Control and class audits, maintains the company safety policy, and tracks MARPOL and SOLAS compliance across the fleet. The role often overlaps with the ISM-mandated Designated Person Ashore.
