Queen's Cup

F4. Recreational Boating, Yachting and Sport

Definition

Royal Yacht Squadron trophy presented since 1846.

A Royal Yacht Squadron trophy presented by the British monarch and raced at Cowes, with the Queen’s Cup awarded at Cowes Week, the Squadron’s annual August regatta off the Isle of Wight founded 1826. Sovereigns have presented cups to the Squadron, founded 1815, since the early nineteenth century; the trophy passes to the winning yacht of its designated race. Other clubs hold separate Queen’s Cups, so the awarding club and regatta identify which is meant. It is one of British yachting’s senior club prizes.
