Coronation Cup

A sailing trophy named for a British coronation, the best known being the Royal Yacht Squadron’s Coronation Cup raced at Cowes. Several British clubs hold trophies of this name presented or revived around coronations, typically as a Cowes Week or club keelboat prize. Because more than one trophy carries the title, the host club and class fix which Coronation Cup is meant. The Royal Yacht Squadron, founded 1815 at Cowes on the Isle of Wight, is the usual custodian of the senior example.
