Regional Maritime Information Sharing (Yaoundé Code)

E1. Maritime security, geopolitics and risk

Definition

West/Central Africa coordination architecture.

The information-sharing architecture for West and Central Africa created under the Yaounde Code of Conduct, adopted at the Yaounde Summit in Cameroon on 25 June 2013 by ECOWAS, ECCAS, and the Gulf of Guinea Commission. It set up a layered structure: the Interregional Coordination Centre in Yaounde over two regional centers (CRESMAO and CRESMAC) and several multinational and zonal maritime centers. These hubs share data on piracy, armed robbery, smuggling, and illegal fishing across the Gulf of Guinea, complementing MDAT-GoG and BMP West Africa.
