SafetyNET II

The enhanced Inmarsat C / Fleet Safety maritime safety information broadcast service, delivering NAVAREA and MET-area warnings, SAR alerts, and other MSI to ships in GMDSS sea area A3 via the International SafetyNET service of the WWNWS. SafetyNET II added two-way confirmation, finer geographic addressing, and a web-based interface for registered MSI providers, replacing the original SafetyNET. It runs alongside Iridium’s equivalent SafetyCAST recognized under GMDSS modernization. Reception is automatic on type-approved Enhanced Group Call equipment meeting IMO Resolution A.664(16).
