Smart Cruise Ship
E4. Cruise, offshore energy and auxiliary/specialised fleetsDefinition
Heavily digitalized cruise vessel.
A cruise ship instrumented for digital operation: condition-monitoring sensors, integrated bridge and platform-management systems, energy-optimization software, and shore-to-ship data links feeding shoreside operations centers. The pattern fits IMO’s e-navigation strategy and the smart-shipping trend toward data-driven efficiency and predictive maintenance. Cyber-risk management is mandatory under IMO Resolution MSC.428(98) (2017), which requires maritime cyber risks to be addressed in the ship’s safety management system from the first annual Document of Compliance audit after 1 January 2021.
