The Snipe is a two-person one-design racing dinghy designed by William F. Crosby in 1931 for the American magazine The Rudder, 4.72 m (15 ft 6 in) long with a centerboard, mainsail, and jib but no spinnaker or trapeze, sailed with hiking. It is one of the largest international classes, governed by SCIRA (the Snipe Class International Racing Association), with major fleets in the United States, Europe, Japan, and South America. The Snipe is not an Olympic class but holds a long-running world championship.
