UNECE eCMR

The eCMR is the electronic consignment note under the Additional Protocol to the CMR Convention concerning the electronic consignment note, adopted under UNECE auspices in Geneva on 20 February 2008 and in force from 5 June 2011. It gives a digital road-transport consignment note the same legal standing as the paper CMR note, covering the road leg of a multimodal door-to-door shipment that also moves by sea. It complements maritime e-documents such as the DCSA eBL and sits within the broader MLETR-driven shift to electronic transferable trade records.
