ICC Uniform Rules for Collections.
URC 522 is the ICC Uniform Rules for Collections, the 1995 revision, ICC Publication No. 522, in force from 1 January 1996. It governs documentary and clean collections, the payment method where banks handle an exporter’s documents and draft for collection without guaranteeing payment. The rules require a separate collection instruction on every collection, state that banks do not examine documents, and set out the duties of the remitting, collecting, and presenting banks for release documents against payment (D/P) or documents against acceptance (D/A). URC 522 sits beside UCP 600 (credits) and URDG 758 (demand guarantees) in the ICC trade finance rule set.
